Republican Party Degeneration?

When I look at the field of presidential candidates on the Republican side, I wonder whose side they are running for. The 'front runner', Rudy Guiliani, has social views that line up with the Democrat front runner, Hillary Clinton. He's not a real conservative. Fred Thompson, seen as the 'great hope' for conservatives, doesn't seem to know how to run a campaign, nor what work to do in order to gain popularity. We wonder if he would be able to debate Clinton. Romney seems to have changed his mind about critical issues when convenient to do so.....like being "pro-choice" until deciding to run for President.

Is the Republican party so diluted that locally a person cannot clearly distinguish the party of a candidate by looking at their stand on issues alone? Why do we have to go to our party headquarters to find out who the candidates are? Are the candidates afraid to make their position clear?

The lack of clarity of position is evidenced by Republican dissatisfaction with the current slate of leading presidential candidates. I happened upon a poll in the sidebar of a random blog today. Here are the results:

Who is your favorite Republican Presidential Candidate?

  • None of the above. I want a real Conservative! (38%, 279 Votes)
  • Fred Thompson (28%, 207 Votes)
  • Rudy Giuliani (16%, 116 Votes)
  • Mitt Romney (8%, 59 Votes)
  • Newt Gingrich (8%, 57 Votes)
  • John McCain (2%, 17 Votes)

Total Voters: 735

There are so few Republican candidates that really exemplify what "conservative" means. The only one that talks the talk and has real world experience that will transfer to the role of President is Mike Huckabee. He would be a natural choice to lead the nation because of his successful experience as governor of Arkansas, and because he is a true conservative. I hope his hard work in Iowa and New Hampshire bears fruit, and that Republicans will not dismiss him as unelectable.

These views do not represent the vision of America - the land of the free and the home of the brave. These are overtly communist values which represent redistribution of wealth and complete nationwide entitlement. Communism is a failed system. We've known that for years now. How sad that the Democratic "frontrunner" is so blatantly against the free market system that has been economically successful and has done the most good for this world in motivating people to aspire to be the best they can and work hard to achieve great goals.

Voters, if you want a nanny that will take care of your every need without the necessity of you having to work for what you have, then vote for Hillary. I will save my vote for a candidate who will inspire me to work for my dreams because I will achieve them by my own merit and not based on the 'equal share' of what a government will give me.

Rush Limbaugh is not News

Rush Limbaugh is not news. What is news is the loss of common sense and dignity in Congress.

Congress, the current Democratic Congress, has the lowest approval rating of any Congress in the history of the United States. They are rivaling the kind of demagoguery and outright partisanship for their own selfish ambitions that led to the Civil War. This Congress can be compared to the Pre-Civil War Congress where they were so morally weak and indecisive that they allowed the "Great Compromise" - that some states should be slave states and some should be free. I fear that we could be on the edge of another civil war with such incompetent and self serving leadership.

On both sides, we have clear and open evidence of pettiness, viciousness, corruption, bribery and sexual perversion. When the top leaders of our country act like animals, selfish children and whiny brats – attempting to screw strangers in public bathroom stalls, hiding money in freezers, using native Americans for their own corrupt political purposes, sleeping and drooling and ranting on public TV the American public knows its time for a change. (I’ll let you guess who they are. They are from both sides of the House and Senate and they have one thing in common – they love themselves and money more than they love the American they are hired to serve and defend.)

Most in Congress on both sides have an attitude of extreme treachery toward the very military THEY desperately need to keep their "candy asses" from being blown sky high on the way to work. The Carpetbagger from New York is using her senatorial office for no other reason than to run for president (and yes, she'll probably win - I believe the American people are overall just that stupid). Under this current Congress, which has put off any meaningful debate about illegal aliens and protection of our homeland, murderous illegal aliens can get more health and government benefits than a Hardworking US citizen who has paid their dues all their life, it is possible that freedom is not just being eroded, but is being destroyed.

In our country, we have laws - Don't murder. Don't steal. Don't lie.. The list goes on. But then we have our Congress and our political leaders decrying the "Two Americas", where, in reality, "if you are rich and famous you can break all the laws you want, maybe write a book, and get a ton of cash for it. But woe to you if you are a poor person of color! One false step and you are going down for 20 years because you felt sorry for yourself one day and just had to steal a bike.

According to God's Word, the true sign of the end times is that people would be evil, and this is how we would know what evil is - very simply: people would be lovers of themselves, and call what is evil good and what is good evil. I believe our Congress is in that camp and that they should all resign. Every last one of them. When people who represent our freedoms sacrifice them for their own power lust and personal ambition, are we really safe?

"What's in Your Wallet?"

That's what I want to know from Democratic candidates in this election cycle. Who's providing them the big bucks to promote their "Progressive" Socialist agenda?

Consider the Democrats who won't speak out against the MoveOn.org ad, including Hillary Clinton. MoveOn is generously supported by George Soros - a man who wants to be a political chessmaster in the world, and who uses his capital to influence elections. This was obvious during the last presidential election and is still continuing.

So, Soros wants to spend money to over throw what he considers 'fascist regimes' and has an obsessively negative view of the United States. Should he be allowed to 'buy' elections? Should he become the defacto King of America (and the world)?

A fair warning to Democratic candidates - What is in your wallet and who is controlling you with their dollars?

Dems Debate on Raising Taxes for Healthcare

Tonight on the AARP debate, Democratic candidates were touting their fabulous comprehensive and universal health care plans.....all paid for by raising Taxes on the "Rich" and by raising Capital Gains Tax from 15% to 27%.

I don't think Edwards, Richardson,Clinton, Biden and Dodd really have a background in economics. What they propose may satisfy the itching ears of the "poor" who are bitter and have a grudge against those who are blessed with the ability to accumulate wealth, but in reality it is those who have a little extra capital who can start businesses without borrowing and who can create jobs which increases the revenue base from which people pay more taxes. They don't realize that "Bush's Tax Cuts" - they speak that like a derogatory word - are what have fueled the strong economy we have now.

In their lofty and even pompous proclamations about health care, they fail to address the one great unmentionable in Democratic politics - Illegal aliens are sucking the health care system dry and not contributing via taxes. If that issue were dealt with, along with tort reform and a purging of corruption form the Medicare system that still pays our $12 for a tylenol, it would go a long way toward solving some of our health care issues.

John must be at the parlor.....

Elizabeth is doing all the talking for him again. Ever know someone whose wife did all the important talking for him....? The Royal Edwards family is case in point.

I'm just wondering when John-boy will decide to call it quits......or will his wife make that decision for him too?

Losergirl shills for limelight ......again!

Her finances must be getting low. Cindy Sheehan is out looking for more opportunites to get arrested. This time she is making her face shown on September 15 with ANSWER - that Lovely Communist cover group. They are going to have a 'die in' in Washington DC. How quaint. Alas, she is part of the super far left wing moonbats whom, along with moveon.org, we will not miss when they are gone.

Rudy would back McCain if he were not running for President himself........and that is just another reason why I would probably not back Giuliani.

The Ignorant are Easily Manipulated

Here is a Video by Penn and Teller where a petitioner gets hundreds of signatures to ban 'dihydrogen monoxide'. That stuff sounds really bad, doesn't it, until you think a little bit and realize the petitioner is getting people to want to ban WATER - H2O!!

Those people did not even give a thought to the possibility of that strange sounding chemical being any more than an evil poison. Most of us learn that water consists of two hydrogen atoms (dihydrogen) and one oxygen atom (monoxide) in elementary and middle school.

This is one of the reasons why I teach. You cannot do much with adults who choose to be stupid and ignorant, but there is hope for the kids. Knowledge is power, literally.

Do not forget the real Martyrs

Michelle Malkin reminds us of the blood of the Korean Christian missionaries spilled in Afghanistan. The Koreans were there to share their faith - not with forceful words and Bible thumping, but by humanitarian means - ministering to the medical and physical needs of the Afghani people. And for their kindness, they have been kidnapped by killers who believe their 'god' demands the death of all those who do not convert to Islam.

Malkin brings out the deafening silence of America over this atrocity. Reasonable Americans should cry out, or at least speak out against this violence and blatant human rights violation. Are Americans so cowed by fear of the reaction by groups like CAIR who support terrorism and are a squeaky wheel for Muslim issues in this country. The group whose vision for America represents the Capitol Building as a mosque with a minaret (click on the image):

Shocking, isn't it?

Please don't forget the Korean Christian Missionaries in your prayers. And speak out against the violence and atrocities carried out in the name of Islam - in this country as well as around the world.

Malkin says it best:

Curiously, those who argue that we need to "understand" Islamic terrorists demonstrate little effort to "understand" the Christian evangelical missionaries who risk their lives to spread the gospel -- not by sword, but through acts of compassion, healing and education. An estimated 16,000 Korean mission workers risk their lives across the globe -- from Africa to the Middle East, China and North Korea.

These are true practitioners of a religion of peace, not the hate-mongers with bombs and AK-47s strapped to their chests who slay instead of pray their way to martyrdom.

Another Massachusetts Moonbat

A very wise and well known religious figure told us "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." I find this is a wonderful guide for judging our leaders.

Recently, one of our Congressmen put his brain on hold and spewed forth what was in his heart. John Olver D-Massachusetts described Republicans in this way - "They are nihilists. They are jihadists."

What inspired this vitriol? Here is part of the article from CQ.com:

This year’s appropriations tug-of-war between a new majority in Congress and a president of the opposing party does not appear to be headed for a government shutdown, but a rhetorical taboo was lifted when the word became part of the partisan message of the moment.

“The obvious plan of the Democrats is to not do appropriations bills but put everything together in a giant omnibus appropriations bill in a kind of legislative blackmail with all of the policy and increased spending, to in effect threaten the president to either sign the bill or be accused of shutting down the government,” Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, the chairman of the Republican Conference, said Wednesday.

President Bush has threatened to veto seven appropriations bills because together they would exceed his discretionary spending limit by more than $20 billion.

Congressional veterans are certain the two sides are headed for a whopper of a fight over a catchall, omnibus appropriations bill.

Democratic leaders insist, however, that they really want separate bills to pass and that they prefer to avoid an omnibus.

“That is not our intention at all,” said Senate Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill. “If they want to cooperate with us and bring the bills to the floor, we have six or seven bills that have cleared committee. We’re ready to move.”

So, because Republicans won't bend over and take the Democrat koolaid on spending, Olver thinks they are Jihadists? What an ignorant man. Here is his voting record as a Representative. Here's more on his voting record. He's also been a Representative since 1991 - that makes him a poster child for term limits, too!

Here is something else John Olver believes:
He is deeply concerned whether we will actually have an election in Nov. '08, as he believes this administration will likely strike Iran from the air, declare a national emergency, and cancel the '08 elections.
Moonbat, anyone??

Do you ever feel sorry for the citizens of Massachusetts? They have Kennedy, Kerry, ......and Olver!

Yes, Bill Richardson is just another Liberal but...

Yes, Bill Richardson is just another liberal. What sets him apart is his success as a governor of New Mexico as well as his vast experience as a former cabinet member and his international diplomatic experience, which the other Democratic candidates sorely lack.

Here in New Mexico he has cut taxes and been very pro-business. This has improved living circumstances immensely. I live in one of the cities that is experiencing tremendous growth and a rise in the standard of living (although, admittedly, vast poverty exists south of us due to the swell of illegal immigration.)

I am not a Democrat, but if my values were in agreement with theirs, I would consider Richardson the most qualified candidate of all in the field. Here’s hoping Hillary’s skeletons come out of the closet to haunt her, and that Obama’s charm is a thin veil revealing his shocking lack of experience and extreme views.

Murtha's Magical Money Pot

Have you ever heard of the Center for Instrumented Critical Infrastructure??

Neither have I. And neither had Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona, but it's getting a million dollars.

Here's the story from the Politico:

Republican Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona, the fiscal crusader who's never met an earmark he likes, questioned Democratic Rep. Peter J. Visclosky of Indiana on the House floor Tuesday about whether the Center for Instrumented Critical Infrastructure actually exists - since, hey, it's getting like a million bucks or something.

Visclosky, who chairs the spending subcommittee responsible for the project, had to admit that, well, he didn't have a clue.

After a lengthy back-and-forth, Flake, complaining that his staff couldn't find a website for the center, asked Visclosky, "Does the center currently exist?"

"At this time, I do not know," the Indiana Democrat replied. "But if it does not exist, the monies could not go to it." And who could possibly be the sponsor of such an earmark? Yes, you guessed it, the man Republicans love to hate, Pennsylvania Democrat John P. Murtha.

Despite the money's uncertain destination, the House rejected Flake's measure to strike the funds, 326-98. And the Visclosky bill also sailed through, 312-112.

Someone should investigate Murtha on this. It deals with money going to some nebulous place. Kind of like Abscam. Is he padding his retirement fund with this bogus Center for Instrumented Critical Infrastructure? We really need to ask some more questions on this.......oh wait! The investigations are all directed at Republicans now...no time to clean the Democratic messes!

And what should we call this appropriation?? Ah!!! Another 'success' of the current Democratic Congress?

Bluewater Lake State Park

If you are a camping fan and happen to be rolling through Western New Mexico, you will want to consider the Bluewater Lake State Park near Grants. We spent a very relaxing weekend there during my blogging absence.

Located on the north edge of the Zuni Mountains and ringed with Pinon Pine trees and Cedars, Bluewater Lake State Park is not only a good campsite with excellent amenities, but it is a lovely scenic place to set up your tent. Being conveniently located off I-40, you could use this campsite as a base for further exploration. That is what we did, traveling to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert 125 miles away in Arizona.

The lake and creek are stocked with trout and catfish. This site is also favored for winter ice fishing! Don't miss the trail that leads to the Bluewater Creek!

If you look carefully at the limestone that surrounds the reservoir, you will find snail and brachipod fossils. The limestone comes from the time when the Bluewater Lake area was an inland sea.

At this state park there are sites for RVs and tent camping. You can choose a primitive site for $8 a night, an improved site for $10 a night which includes a picnic table and a fire ring with your tent site. there are also RV and tent sites with electricity for an additional $4 fee. Both flush toilets and outhouses are on the site, and they are kept clean. The two sites with flush toilets are heated, and in one of them is a shower house with two shower stalls per gender. The showers are push button operated. The water is well heated and feels great when you are all sweaty and need to clean up. A trick about the push button showers is to keep pushing to get a steady stream of water. Otherwise, the water will peter out in a few seconds.

If you end up visiting Bluewater Lake State Park, leave me a comment about how you liked it.

Peace with Arabs? Peace with Muslims?

A blogging friend brought this to my attention. Thank you Carl B.

Golda Meir said it best decades ago. How true that is today for the whole world.

We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.

Pure Evil

Can you imagine taking a happy ten year old girl and brainwashing her to be willing to die for Jihad?

Here is part of the article describing what happened to the children at the Red Mosque siege in Pakistan:

SAIMA KHAN wants to die a martyr. Life is transient, she told her father in a telephone call last week, and the real glory is to sacrifice it for Allah. Her statement would be alarming at any age, but Saima is only 10.

As she spoke, rifle shots rang out, the acrid smell of tear gas drifted over Islamabad and hundreds of troops surrounded the pro-Taliban Red Mosque, a religious school complex in the heart of Pakistan’s capital where Saima was among hundreds of children being held as virtual hostages in a stand-off between militants and the government.

Saima and her 14-year-old sister, Asma, were embroiled in a struggle for the soul of Pakistan in which up to 70 militants died last week and more than 100 were injured, according to mosque officials.

Holed up inside the complex behind the lines of troops and razor wire, the children – many of them girls whose families had sent them to the mosque to receive a strict Islamic education – repeatedly rejected relatives’ entreaties to leave before a threatened army onslaught.

There was evidence that many had been brainwashed into a cult of martyrdom, and the authorities feared last night that some were being prepared to be suicide bombers. In barely eight weeks, Saima had been transformed from a religious but fun-loving girl to a jihadi, grimly craving martyrdom.

Imagine if you had sent your daughter to a private school to receive a decent education, and she came out so terribly radical! As a Christian, I can understand teaching your children that there is the possibility of being persecuted for your beliefs. That sort of teaching is Biblical and is a reality in countries which are hostile to Christianity (Sadly, Pakistan seems to be one of those countries). But to have your children brainwashed into believing they need to die or kill themselves to promote an oppressive theocratic system is totally evil.
